The Welsh Government’s announcement of a state-backed energy company is nothing more than administrative vanity wrapped in green window-dressing. While families across Carmarthenshire face soaring energy bills and failing public infrastructure, ministers in Cardiff Bay are busy establishing yet another quango to meddle in energy markets. Instead of focusing on practical, low-cost power solutions for local residents, this administration is doubling down on top-down state control that ignores the realities of
rural Welsh life.
Reform UK Wales offers a common-sense alternative built on cutting bureaucratic waste and redirecting funds directly to front-line services. We reject the obsession with expensive net-zero mandates that penalise rural communities, farmers, and motorists who have no viable alternatives to traditional energy and transport. Every pound spent on state-backed energy bureaucracy should instead be returned to taxpayers through lower tax burdens and targeted local investments in Carmarthenshire’s roads, healthcare, and
infrastructure.
It is time to strip away the ideological distractions coming out of Cardiff Bay and demand true executive accountability. As your MS for Sir Gaerfyrddin, I will continue to fight against policies that burden our local businesses and households. We need real support for our communities, not more centralised government interference.
